At its August meeting, the Washington Town Council agreed to a dr^ft resolution to accept a bust of George Washington and to place the bust somewhere within the town boundaries. This resolution Was made in ! response to a offet by Delegate Jay Katzen to commemorate the bicentennial of George | Washington’s death (December 14, 1799) by installing such a memorial in Washington. Delegate Katzen, according to John McCarthy, “feels that he can locate a donor for same [the bust] so that there would be no cost to the Town and County.” The County Board of Supervisors passed a similar resolution supporting Katzen’s proposal on Aug. 2.
Town Water Issues
Council member Steve Critzer reported that the reconstruction of the water works filter system will commence the week of August 16. The extent of the system’s problems will be determined after disassembly of the valves.
