According to a Farm Service Agency (FSA) press release dated August 11, Rappahannock County has been designated a “contiguous county” and farmers should be eligible for some emergency benefits because of losses caused by the recent drought. A local FSA representative also noted that Rappahannock farm losses are still being assessed, and full emergency benefits will not be available until after that process has been completed and Rappahannock has been designated as an additional “primary” county.
