The beginning of the season of Advent brings with it many symbols. Among these are candles, wreaths, and light. As the first Advent candle is lit, we begin to see other symbols of the coming of the Christ-Child into a dark world. A tree is lit here, a candle in the window there. Every day of every week of the advent season there is more light that meets the darkness. We climb into the car and make the annual pilgrimage of the viewing of the lights just as the shepherds and wisemen followed the star of Bethlehem in the dark sky, stopping where the Holy Child lay in a manger. Jesus tells us in John 9:5. ..“As long as l am in the world, I am the Light of the world. ” Jesus is in the world as long as He shines in the hearts of His children. As you visit God’s house this Advent season, won’t you ash the light of His Son into your heart?
