Erin Nilan, Travis Williams, and Charles and Leonard Cowherd, 1999 graduates of Wakefield Country Day School, have been named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level AP Examinations.
Approximately 23 percent of seniors in the nation take one or more AP exams, and only 13 percent of the 700,000 students who took the exam in May 1999 performed at a sufficiently high level to merit AP Scholar recognition.
Erin Nilan of Warrenton received the AP Scholar with Distinction award by earning an average grade of 3.64 on eight AP exams. Nilan is now attending The College of William and Mary.
Travis Williams of Flint Hill was named an AP Scholar with Honor for an average grade of 4.13 on 5 AP exams. Williams in currently attending George Mason University.
Leonard Cowherd of Culpeper received the AP Scholar with Honor Award for an average of 4.0 for 5 AP exams, and is attending the United States Military academy at West Point.
Charles Cowherd of Culpeper was named an AP Scholar with a grade average of 4.43 for 4 AP exams, and is a student at Virignia Military Institute.
