Actually, McCarthy’s book tied for the number ten spot on the book shop’s list with the book that was* number one best-seller in the U.S. for 1999, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Except for the one Harry Potter book, none of the other national best-sellers came close to making the top ten of the Old Sperryville Bookshop list. If there were such a thing as a “worst sellers” list, locally it would include every one of the many books published in 1999 about Bill Clinton, Hillary Plinfnn Mnnino
