Sharon Kilpatrick also spoke during the public comments portion of the meeting, expressing her frustration in attempting to lawfully dispose of some hazardous materials. She noted that the Rappahannock County landfill currently accepts used motor oil and may establish a program to accept waste antifreeze, but that they do not accept waste gasoline, paint, or other such substances.
She requested that the board develop some hazardous waste disposal options so that residents do not resort to illegal disposal.
E-911 ailments
County Administrator John McCarthy discussed ongoing problems with Bell Atlantic’s Rappahannock customer database, and the problems that it has created for effective implementation of the county’s E-911 system.
