Caledonia, Phil Irwin’s farm in Rappahannock County, has been placed in a scenic easement. The stone house on Irwin’s Caledonia farm was built in 1812 by Captain John Dearing. It remained in the Dearing family until 1961 when it was bought by Bill Pullen. Irwin bought the place in 1967.

Residents of Chester Gap, Flint Hill, Washington, Sperryville and Amissville may have cable TV in a little more than a year, if the process of working out a franchise agreement proceeds smoothly. At last Wednesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, the board agreed to Adelphia Cable Communications” request for a proposal.
In a photograph Extension Homemaker of the Year Marie Davis receives her award from Home Extension Agent Helen Smith. There was a good turnout at both public meetings on controlling the gypsy moth that were held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church last week. Many landowners were interested in being included in the spray block which are being established in the southern third of the county. No one expressed the desire not to be sprayed.
