The youthful perpetrators who destroyed 71 mailboxes and broke i two car windows in the Washington area on the evening of January 1 have been identified, and charges will be filed, according to Rappahannock County Sheriff Larry Sherertz.
The vandalism, which occurred on several rural roads outside of Washington as well as Main Street, was committed by one adult and six juveniles, said Sherertz.
“All of the participants in the vandalism are residents of Rappahannock County,” Sherertz noted.
The investigation has revealed that “Not all seven individuals went out at one time ... there were at least two separate events involving mem’ bers of the group,” said Sherertz.
