Harold “Porky” W. Pettie Jr., 39, of Rixeyville died Tuesday, Jan. 4 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1960 in Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Pettie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and served in Lebanon, Beirut and Grenada.
He was a member of North South Skirmish Association.
Survivors include his parents, Harold W. Pettie Sr. and Donna Jean Birtcher Pettie; his wife, Margaret Christine Yowell Pettie of Rixeyville; a daughter, Laura Christine Pettie and a granddaughter, Katelynn Renee Pettie, both of Charlottesville.
Additional survivors include a brother, Calvin R. Pettie of Flint Hill; three sisters, Patricia Wittich of Culpeper, Rebecca Baker of Standardsville and Wanda and Calvin Birtcher, both of Orange; several nieces and nephews which include Robbie Mayer of Viewtown.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 10 at Found and Sons Chapel with the pastor Fred Hodges officiating. Interment followed in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Culpeper American Legion Post #330 and V.F.W. Post #2524.
Pallbearers were Jeff Nicodemus, Steve Buchanan, A.C. Baird, Ed Nicodemus, Eddie Nicodemus, Bo Claire, Jim Landers and Gary Penix.
