“We want to stress that the company not a scam, it’s the actions of some of the employees,” said Sherertz.
However, Sherertz urged residents to “under no circumstances give out your name, bank account or other personal information to coldcall solicitors.”
“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is a scam,” he noted. “You can hang up, but if you are really interested, get more information and do more research on the company” before making any commitment.
“Some people, especially seniors, are reluctant to admit that they have been taken, or are afraid of retaliation if they complain,” noted Sherertz.
But he urged anyone who feels that they have been victimized by the scam, or have had unauthorized debits from their accounts, to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 675-3331.
