New Bleu Rock owners Harry Carlip and Jo Mariea have entered into a multi-year agreement with Rappahannock joint-master and huntsman Oliver Brown and race co-chairman David Ingram to hold the event over a to-be-built course behind the Inn and restaurant. Mariea’s son Calvert Clark was integral in the new business partnerships.
“I knew that the Rappahannock Hunt races this year had to find a temporary home,” Clark said. The 1998 death of Thornton Hill Farm owner James W. Fletcher, where the races were held from 1957-’99, forced the hunt to find a new home for their point-topoint. “And I’d heard about the original course here at
