The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is very excited to announce that on Friday April 7 Rappahannock audiences will have a unique opportunity to hear the internationally acclaimed Pontanima, an interfaith, multicultural and multinational choir from 1 Sarajevo, who will be appearing at The Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Prior to April 7 Pontanima will also be performing on April 3 at The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, on April 4 on the US Capitol steps, and on April 5 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
The 30-voice choir is the peaceful vision of Fra Ivo Markovic, a native of a tiny village in the hills above Zenica, Bosnia. Though he and his Bosnian Franciscan community were forced to leave Sartgevo, Fra Ivo continued to work for peace across ethnic lines, even as a refugee in Croatia.
