On Monday, March 13 the local Democratic Committee knew that its application to Adopt a Highway was officially approved when the brand new “Adopt a Highway” signs on U. S. 211 near Massie’s Comer were spotted.
Kate Gagnon, the Chair of the Outreach Committee for the RCDC, was delighted. “I had reported at the committee meeting on March 7 that we had been approved as sponsors for a stretch of highway, but I had no idea how long it would take VDOT to have the signs made and then how long before they actually went up. I’m really impressed.”
The stretch of U.S. 211 that the Rappahannock County Democratic Committee sponsors runs from Massie’s Comer west for about a mile. The committee members are responsible for making “their” portion of U.S. 211 trash free at least four times a year.
