The Missions Group from Amissville Baptist Church recently spent two days in Franklin, helping to restore homes that had been damaged by the floods of last September.
One of the homes the group worked on belonged to an 82 year old lady who had not been able to live there since the flood.
This house had water up to the light fixture on the outside. The group dry walled, painted, insulated, cleaned, put up door casings, crown molding, put a roof on another home and worked at a “break.neck” pace for two days on two homes.
Gloria Mills said “Everyone worked really well together and I am ready to go again.” Kim Nelson called the trip “The most wonderful, eye opening experience of her life.” Charlie Mills said “It gave me joy to see the joy and happiness, in the people we helped. It was and is a great feeling.”
Rev. Vernon DeLong, said, “It was hard work but it was a good work. We could see the fruits of our labor as things came together, as we touched the lives of the people of Franklin.”
