On May 22, family and friends gathered at Wakefield Country Day School’s Assembly Hall to witness the closing ceremony for its pre-school, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes and the graduation of Mrs. Kathy Nilan’s kindergarten class of 2000.
Following an invocation by Headmaster Michael F. Vargo, the ceremony continued with patriotic songs sung by all of the students as well as the reading of favorite poems memorized by each of the kindergartners.
Certificates were presented to pre-school and pre-kindergarten students. Each kindergarten student was presented with a reading certificate as well as a diploma. The ceremony closed with the children’s singing of “I Am Your Child”, written by Marty Panzer and Barry Manilow.
Piano accompaniment was by Mrs. Emma Sue Amos. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the pre-kindergarten classroom.
Kindergarten graduates were Anne Bennett of Woodville, Bethany Burress, John Morgan Christoph and Sean Peters of Front Royal, Amanda Carroll of Amissville, Zoe DelucaHewetson of Banco, Patrick Guiffre and Ryan Ochoa of Huntly, Ailiena Maggiolo of Markham, Preston Kemp of Luray, Emily Little and William Mullany of Washington, Rachel Robinson of Bentonville and Brian Shafran of Viewtown.
