Jeff MacNelly, 52, of Rappahannock County died Thursday, June 8 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after battling lymphoma since late last year.

MacNelly, a three-time Pulitzer Prize winner and creator of the daily comic strip “Shoe,” got his second cartooning job and first full-time one in Virginia.
