Sperryville Civil War

Days - a wonderful

event - special

thanks to all

We would like to thank the many people who helped

make Sperryville Civil War Days/2000 a wonderful event. The weather was perfect, the music was great and best of all, the Confederates routed the Yankees in the Battle of Faith Mountain.

Special thanks go to the re-enactors of the Old Dominion Rifles, 17th Virginia Infantry Regiment, and those of the 28th Massachusetts, Irish Brigade, who provided much color, excitement and education about the life of the Civil War soldier. Locally, we wish to thank the members of the Rappahannock Historical Society and the Amissville Area Community Association for their participation as vendors.

Cliff Miller generously allowed use of his property for the skirmish, and Martin and Cheri Woodward of Faith Mountain Company did the same, for which we are thankful. Sincere thanks go to the many people who came to support the event and enjoy the day.

To our neighbors near the Old Sperryville Bookshop, we express our appreciation for their tolerating an invasion of soldiers, musicians, authors, spectators and others without complaint.

The response has convinced us that Sperryville Civil War Days should be an annual event, and we would welcome broader participation in future years.
