The Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted break-in at the county dump site on Flatwood Lane west of Washington that was discovered on the morning of June 9.
According to Sheriff Larry Sherertz, both he and Dep. Connie Compton had gone to the site to investigate. Once there, they determined that someone had tried to pull down the locked gate by attaching a chain to it, and pulling the chain with a vehicle.
