the improper setting of two bar joists, to the twisting in a third bar joist, and to a masonry wall that was two inches too short. The joists have been replaced, and the wall problem will be overcome through the use of “sleepers.” The work on the addition is on schedule despite the roof problems, Dr. Gangel said-the inside is painted, most of the electrical work is complete, and work on the ceilings and locker installation is underway.

Regarding maintenance during the summer months, Dr. Gangel presented a schedule of maintenance activities prepared by Maintenance Coordinator, Bill Deal. The schedule includes the bidding and completion of an RCHS electrical upgrade, a conversion of the high school coalfired boiler to oil-fired and the installation of a security window at the elementary school; RCES water tank flushing, classroom painting and gym stage floor refinishing; RCHS gym floor refinishing, auditorium carpet replacement and entrance renovation; and the renovation of elementary school playground equipment. Because no bids were received for the electrical upgrade and boiler conversion, Dr. Gangel said that he might have to proceed using an alternative process in order to complete these critical tasks.
