A category A scholarship is awarded only one time to an eligible applicant. It is in the amount of $1,000.
A category B scholarship is offered to an applicant without prejudice to the applicant’s right to apply for a scholarship in a subsequent year. A category B scholarship is in the amount of $500. Five category B scholarships were awarded by the committee this year.
The sole recipient of the committee’s $ 1,000 category A scholarship for 2000 is Sonya Anderson, a resident of Sperryville. Anderson will attend Virginia Tech during the 2000-2001 academic year.

The memorial fund established in MaryBeth Williams’ name has as its purpose the funding of scholarships for higher education and other activities for. the youth of Rappahannock County.
MaryBeth Williams was killed in a automobile accident on Route 729 on May 14, 1997. She was interested in higher education and the fund was established as a memorial to her aspirations.
