Last Saturday the Flatwood Refuse and Recycling Center on Rock Mills Road opened its doors to the public and provided Rappahannock a more secure alternative to the Scrabble and Huntly dumpster sites. Controlled access to the site will enable attendants Jerry Burke and David Alther to observe those seeking to use the facility and to turn away out-of-county residents, and should provide better control on the dumping of unacceptable trash.
