He and James Madison, the author of the Bill of Rights, were lifelong collaborators, politically and intellectually in tune, and of a mind when it came to religious freedom. Let us remember that the establishment clause is there not just to protect government from the church , but to protect the churches from government.
Nor did Mr. Oyster (J.D.. L.L.M.) respond to any of the points I made in opposition to this well intentioned but misguided piece of legislation. Instead he writes, (and I assume he is talking to me since I am the only one who has written on the subject here) “Let us not defile the objective of helping out our poor and needy by “closed” thinking that puts the law in a straitjacket and serves no real purpose other than partisan political ends.” Whoa, bro’!
