Virgie May Sanders, 91, of Flint Hill died Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mrs. Sanders was a federal government employee for 35 yeafs and served as the Special Assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.
Survivors include one daughter, Arlene Sanders of Flint Hill; three granddaughters, Marie Roemer of New York, Bick Roemer of Manassas and Claire Hanna of Ashbum and three greatgrandchildren, Jordan Hanna, Jason Kwon and Spencer Roemer-Bello.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Price Funeral Home in Manassas. Interment followed at National Memorial Park, Falls Church.

Lanning Jr.
Washington resident
William “Bill” Lanning Jr., 56, of Washington died Monday, Aug. 27 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 1, 1945 in Lackawanna, Pa. to the late William John Joseph Lanning Sr. and Helen M. Bolinski Zdunski.
Mr. Lanning was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. Mr. Lanning was on the board of directors and an officer at Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Lanning of Tampa, Fla. and Denise Lanning of North Port, Fla.; a son, Scott Lanning of Tennessee and three step-children, Vicki Jenkins of Culpeper, Melissa Feather of Remington and Nichole Rhinehart of Manassas.
Additional survivors include his wife, Patricia Lou Burch Lanning of Bealeton and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Trinity Episcopal Church
