The Northern Valley Chapter of the Friends of NRA will hold its annual banquet on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at Bowling Green Country Club in Front Royal. Come enjoy good food, great prizes and lots of fun at the Rappahannock table. To buy tickets or for more information call 675-3679.

Balalaika!

Exuberant and poignant folk music from Russia, Ukraine and other eastern European countries opens the new season at the Theatre at Washington. The 35person orchestra of the Washington Balalaika Society brings its beautiful collection of traditional Russian folk instruments to the Theatre for a performance on Saturday, Sept. 8 beginning at 8 p.m.

rehearsals

The Front Royal Oratorio Society, George Amos, Music Director, will begin rehearsals for its 2001 -2002 season on Monday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Prospective new members are very welcome. No audition required. Come and join singers from a six-county area.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings and are held at the Fulton Fine Arts Complex at RandolphMacon Academy. Mr. Amos promises an enjoyable season for singers and audiences alike.

The first performances, which will feature the Christmas Oratorio of Camille Saint-Saens, will be on Dec. 1 and 2. For more information call 540-622-6974.
