Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Sperryville Cemetery by the Rev. John K. Burke.
Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
Virginia Compton
Former resident
Virginia “Ginger” Bailey Compton, 56, of Rixeyville died on Wednesday, Aug. 29 after a long illness.
She was born and reared in Landover Hills, Md. and moved to Amissville as a teenager where she attended Rappahannock County High School.
She met and married E. Leon Compton in 1961. In the past 40 years, they have attended Bethel Regular Baptist Church in Great Falls, Thoroughfare Bible Church in Brightwood and Hope Hill Baptist Church in Castleton.
Mrs. Compton served churches in many different areas. Some of her gifts included Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bile School leader, camp counselor, church pianist and organist. A special talent she possessed was writing letters of encouragement and inspiration to those enduring difficult circumstances.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, E. Leon Compton or Rixeyville; two sons, Joseph Compton and his wife Gina of Richmond and Kenny Compton of Rixeyville and a daughter, Angie Lines and her husband, John of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include five grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Wommack and her husband, Lloyd of Travelers Rest, S.C. and sever
