Baccalaureate (IB) program. Now, with the full backing of the School Board and administration, IB application and initial teacher training are in progress.

International Baccalaureate sets high expectations for students, requiring them to meet well-regarded worldwide standards. As well, IB is cited on the Virginia School Report Card as an indicator of a challenging high school curriculum.

Founded in the 1960s and headquartered in Switzerland, the International Baccalaureate Organization directs its program primarily to grades 11 and 12, but the foundation for this coursework must begin in middle school and before in order to build toward fulfilling IB’s four key requirements:

• Theory of Knowledge: a class introducing the nature of interdisciplinary study

• Extended Essay: a 4000
