The goals of that mural project, said Ms. Marshall, were “to promote an understanding of that which unites the young people of Rappahannock; to increase young people’s feeling of bcloqging.and purpose; an hia-.„ torical story as the basis of an art.work . . . and to have Rappahannock teens take a leadership position in producing an original work of art that will hopefully inspire others,"
The idea for donating the paintings to UNICEF came from the kids too, and Ms. Marshall spent some time last summer trudging through the UNICEF organization before she identified the ideal place to display that Rappahannock student wisdom. The “Conflict Resolution" series and “The Singing Tree” were gratefully accepted by the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and Laurie Marshall and son Daniel delivered
