pewter Jefferson cup she was awarded in recognition of her 11 years of service as a trustee for the Rappahannock County Library. Honoring her at an informal luncheon on Monday were Gen. Hugh Exton, Dolly Biddle, George Muth, Col. Maury Biddle, Librarian Penny Keesey and Grace Sims.
The first deer of the 1981 season brought by the Rappahannock News office on Monday's opening day was a ten pointer shot in Gid Brown Hollow by Robert Baldwin. His hunting partner, Jack Baldwin estimated that the big buck tipped the scales at about 200 pounds before the carcass was dressed.
Musical numbers took top honors at the variety show held last weekend at the Rappahannock Elementary School. First place went to Tkra Fisher and Denise Edison for their rendition of "Tbmorrow". Demian Wright and Richard IVibino won second place, singing their version of Urgent". Money raised by the variety show will go toward financing the seventh grade trip to Williamsburg.

A brief ceremony and a ground breaking will mark the official start of construction to four lane a two-mile section of US 211 west from near Washington to the Covington River at Gid Brown Hollow. The ground breaking will be held in front of Rappahannock County High School.
Strother Thomas Brown, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Strother Brown of Sperryville, left. Sept. 10 for basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
