Founded in 1953, the Chorus is made up of Yale University students and community residents from a variety of academic and professional disciplines.
The repertoire of the Yale Russian Chorus spans music from the twelfth to the twenty-first centuries and includes ancient chants, patriotic and soldiers’ songs.
In 1999, the Chorus performed at the Alexander Pushkin Gala at Carnegie Hall, the group’s second visit to Carnegie Hall in two years. Other major performances in recent seasons have included appearances at the White House, at the internationally acclaimed St. Petersburg Festival at New York’s Winter Garden, and the first anniversary celebration of the Russian Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.
