The county Telecommunications Ordinance recognized this - it states that cellular sites should “minimize adverse impact on ... an attractive and harmonious community and on property values”. The total cost to Amissville residents could exceed $2 million plus increased taxes!
The proposed Sprint village tower location clearly does not meet these standards and will burden residents with unexpected and unfair costs. Alternative sites and revisions to this site exist including minimizing the tower height, locating to the back of the property, using “simulated tree” designs.
Sprint has shown that when pressured they can offer proposal that successfully reduce the impact on surrounding property and residents. It is up to the citizens and County representatives to make Sprint go back to the drawing table.
