Warming up for the Rappahannock, Heart Association fund drive and pictured on the front page were: Lillian Aylor, Candice Lamma, Paul Nichols, Cheryl Alexander, Maybelle Gilkey, Ellie Clark, Liz Blubaugh, Sally Thornhill and Peggy Woodward. They have recruited over 75 volunteers, who will be asking for your generous donations for this worthy cause.
A longtime stalwart of the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, Paul Poling, was presented with the Chief Robert W. Little Jr. Humanitarian Award by the International Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation in Hampton last weekend during the mid-winter Fire Chiefs Conference.
Two Rappahannock students made the fall semester Dean's List at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown: Mary A. Hudson and Amy A. Noakes.
Thomas V. Williams, director of the Rappahannock County unit of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service, was recently awarded a certificate of achievement for completing Class 3 of the Virginia Rural Leadership Development Program. Participants in Class 3 learned how local government, and some aspects of the federal government, function.
