EBT coming to
Rappahannock «
According to Sharon Pyne at the Rappahannock Social Services Department. Rappahannock will begin using Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) on March 1, 2002.
EBT is the distribution of food stamp benefits with a plastic debit card which will replace the paper food stamp coupons.
Client training is set for Feb. 28. however, current food stamp recipients will get letters assigning a time and date.
The card will display the Virginia Cardinal and will include the client's number. Stores that take the Cardinal card will have a "Quest" or Cardinal card sign on the door.
According to Ms. Pvne under the current program, food stamps are distributed monthly to recipients by mail.
