Rappahannock News Staff Writer
Helen Williams, who served Rappahannock County Public Schools as its Director Of Special Education and Pupil Personnel and then Assistant Superintendent, has returned as interim superintendent on a month-to-month contract, according to terms negotiated with the School Board and announced at its payout meeting on June 27.
Mrs. Williams will direct the system’s operations for up to six months, with contract extensions possible, while the search for a permanent replacement for Dr. David Gangel is conducted. Dr. Gangel resigned from his position after having served as Superintendent for fifteen years, and accepted the position as Superintendent of Schools for Amelia County as of July 1.
School Board Chairman Wesley Mills also announced that six positions were filled in the school system: Marilyn Gozzo as first grade teacher; David Naser as RCHS physics teacher; Kimberly McKinney as RCES special education teacher; Amy Cook as RCES teacher; Marietta Verrill as RCES aide; and James Deal as RCES custodian.
