£latfie<siline& Along winding, country roads — another favorite thing I see: laden clotheslines in full swing, (some say it’s bourgeoisie., but not I). Sheets and cases fluttering, like butterflies in the breeze, hand embroidered table linens, spots that sunshine loves to ease. Lacy little dollies, pinned so delicately — and a nightie swinging gaily, almost flying free! ‘Tis quite apparent who resides within the home nearby, all sizes, shapes and colors, their owners can't belie. The sweetest morning air surrounds the humble laundry line, their whites bleached pure and colors dance from weather so divine. The air that lingers in the sheets, releases all night long, refreshing dreams and haunting sleep like a melody from a song. There’s something almost spiritual in folding air dried things so soft; the towels and curtains flying high, surely Heaven they found aloft. The sun so warm upon my back, while pinning, really brings, a moment bathed with happiness.. for life’s small simple things. Cynthia Stamps, Woodville
