Chairman Pete Estes suggested that the issue be revisited “at a later date-to give time to work through the current budget,” and the motion on the return of the funds failed by a two-to-three vote. The Board of Supervisors will likely address the maintenance funds issue again in October.
Superintendent Williams also informed the Board that a large-capacity transit-type school bus was purchased for $70,000, using end-of-year surplus funds, and it would be used on the Chester Gap route to avoid the need to run a third bus.
She also noted that the search for a replacement for former Superintendent Dr. David Gangel would commence in July, and that she hoped to fill the position by the end of the year.
