With the enactment of these new laws, and America’s Fourth of July celebrations all occurring in the same week, it is an excellent time to think about safety on our roads. Whether we are traveling via car, motorcycle, bicycle, or foot, there are a few safety tips we all need to remember.

Vehicle safety

Drive sober and ride with sober drivers. Alcohol and drugs slow your reaction-time and distort reality. Avoid them.

Always use your safety belt. Air bags are made to work with safety belts, and most crashes happen close to home. So buckle up for every trip.

Drive with your headlights on. See and be seen.

Don’t tailgate. Try to keep four seconds of following distance between your car and the vehicle in front of you.

Focus on your driving. Save putting on makeup and eating lunch for non-driving times.
