Mark and Liz Rhein of Cornucopia Farm in Washington have a soaring business. They release white doves at celebrations. Most often these celebrations are joyous occasions like weddings, birthdays and graduations; for a memorial service or funeral, the release of the doves brings dramatic comfort.

jp The white homing dove is actually a pigeon and a racing bird though Cornucopia Farm does not and will not race its birds. Mr. Rhein joked, “these doves are pigeons in the same way that Secretariat was a pack hprse.” i In the past year Mr. Rhein has released his birds at events within a two-hour radius of their farm stretching from Leesburg to Fredericksburg and from Luray to Washington, DC.
