The varsity squads took the court shortly after the JV match. For fans, the match was not as exciting as the one before, but it did allow fans to see players in many unique situations. Rappahannock, taking on last-place George Mason, placed hitters time in the back row and defensive players at the net. RCHS won the match in three straight sets with scores of 25-13, 2511, and 25-10. Six different hitters tallied kills. Ryisha Cook had nine, Anna Kreyling had seven, Mattie Nawrocki four, Danielle Hiserman two, and Lara Kreyling and Ashleigh Burke had one each. Lara assisted in 17 of the 24 kills. Anna and Ryisha also had four blocks each.
On the following night, the volleyball squads traveled to Strasburg to take on the Rams with the JV game beginning at 6 p.m. In the first game, the two teams battled back and forth but Strasburg came out on top with a score of 25-21. In the second game, Strasburg lead 16-7 after four rotations. RCHS, with Katie Burke serving, went on an eight-point run to close the gap to 15-16. However, Rappahannock earned only one more point before Strasburg scored the last point to win the game 2517 and the match 2-0.
The varsity match proved to be quite exciting as many Rappahannock fans loaded the gym with hopes of watching RCHS clinch the district title. Strasburg’s varsity squad came into the night with a 7-1 district record, losing only to Rappahannock earlier in the season, and was undefeated at home at the beginning of the night.
The first game was tense for both sides as the two teams battled back and forth. The score was tied seven times in the first game. With the score knotted at 24, a long serve gave Rappahannock a 25-24 lead. RCHS finally finished the game with a nicely- placed dink by Anna Kreyling over one of Strasburg’s blockers. The second game started off closely-contested with neither team able to score more than two points at a time during
