Dinner and dance
A country ham and turkey dinner will be held by the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue department on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $10 and $15 for all you can eat; children from five to 12, $7. There also is a dance on Nov. 15 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with music by the Kuttin Edge Band.
CCLC annual auction
The Child Careaihd Learning Center will hold its eighth annual Fall Auction and Party on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. An admission fee of $20 includes food and libations. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and browsing in the Tag Sale Room, bidding on silent auction items and getting a close look at the items up for live auction at 7 p.m.
Mystic Fire performance
Mystic Fire, Rappahannock's own Oriental (belly dance) dance group will perform its first full length show at Ki Theatre in Washington on Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. Mystic Fire draws its inspiration from a mixture of tribal and Egyptian dances, especially those of an ancient gypsy quality. The performance on Nov. 7 is reserved especially for women and Nov. 8 is for the entire community. Call 987 8953 to reserve a spot. Cemetery cleanup Nov. 8
Everyone is invited to join in a general cleanup day for Sperryville Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. Bring whatever tools that may be of use in cleanup and trash removal. Refreshments provided.
Honor a veteran
To honor those who serve and have served, Rappahannock County High School is presenting a Veterans’ Day program on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The RCHS band will perform with many patriotic selections. Retired U. S. Army officer Nels Parsons will be the guest speaker. Veterans from all the branches of the armed forces will be honored and the community is invited to attend. Headwaters' meeting
The November board of directors meeting for Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, will take place Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County extension office. The meeting is open to the public.
Dance classes
Oriental dance classes with Charmaine Lee will be held every Tuesday night Nov. 11 through Dec. 16 at the Belle Meade School House, Route 231, south of Sperryville at 6 p.m. The cost is $72 for the whole series of six classes and $15 per class. Services board to meet
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. Community breakfast
On Saturday, Nov. 15, there will be a community breakfast at the Flint Hill Fire Hall starting at 8:45 a.m. The public is invited. The Flint Hill United Methodist Church is sponsoring the breakfast as a fund-raiser for the local Rappahannock County Troop 36, Boy Scouts of America. RCCA meeting Csf dinner
RCCAwill hold its annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 15 as well as a buffet dinner honoring Rappahannock County conservation easement donors at the Belle Meade Schoolhouse, south of Sperryville. Members and the public are encouraged to attend. John Fox Sullivan, publisher of the National Journal and Atlantic Monthly, himself an easement donor, will speak on land preservation in the county. Election of directors is at 5 p.m., drinks at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The chargd-ts $20 each for members and $30 for non-members.
