Model conservation efforts by the owners of Rappahannock County’s Muskrat Haven Farm, owned and operated by Manfred, Etta and Hunter Call were applauded at the Conservation Awards Banquet held in Culpeper on Oct. 23.
Sponsored by the Culpeper Soil and Water , Conservation District, the event was held to honor residents who have provided leadership in the stewardship of local soil and water resources.
Jack Frye, the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Director of the Division of Soil and Water, presented the state’s Bay Friendly Clean Water Farm Award to the Calls, assisted by Sam Neale, the Culpeper District’s Chairman. Dick McNear and Monira Rifaat represent Rappahannock County on the Culpeper SWCD Board of Directors.
The Clean Water Farm award is given to one farm in each county of the District that is exemplary in its protection of the state’s soil and water resources.
