demands in voting 4-0 to grant Sprint another full year to begin construction. Ron Frazier said the company “acted in good faith” in pursuing its project, and Bryant Lee said, “I think we have to thank them for their patience” in dealing with all the paperwork required by federal rules.
“They have spent a lot of time and money” preparing for work on the county system, he said. The extension was approved by all supervisors except Roger Welch, who abstained from the discussion and the votes because his family would benefit financially from the Sprint system as a landlord for one of the tower sites.
In other action Monday, the board:
• Decided that a proposed ordinance regulating lighting on commercial buildings needed modification and scheduled a work session for Thursday, Dec. 4 to consider amendments before taking the issue to a public hearing;
• Approved a plan to convert the old Foster’s packing shed building north of Flint Hill to professional offices for up to seven occupants, but stripped away conditions recommended by the county Planning Commission for a paved deceleration lane at thte entrance and for compliance with the county’s proposed lighting ordinance;
• Deferred action on a proposed county parking ordinance that would provide fines for parking violations along designated highways^ roads and streets. The matter is expected to be taken up
at a future board meeting. j
