The Rappahannock County High School cross country team completed its season on i Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Region B Meet in Naruna.
The Panther runners, with 253 points, finished ninth out of 12 teams in the competition. RCHS was led by Alex Ramey, who placed 35th, in an 87-man field, with a time of 19:06.
Completing the Panther scoring totals were Kevin Martin (52nd, 20:08), Brian Brown (53rd, 20:10), Josh Makela (62nd, 20:45) and Larry Oliver (67th, 21:23).
Page County High School (43 points) won the boys’ competition, narrowly defeating Madison County (51 points). In the girls’ meet, Central-Woodstock won with a score of 49.
Freshman Football
After controlling the first half, the RCHS freshman football team was overpowered by Manassas Park in the second half and lost 26-12 on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The RCHS freshman team came out strong, with quarterback Corey Hitt hitting Irving Smith for a 46-yard completion on the game’s first play. Smith was tripped-up at the last minute on what appeared to have been a sure touchdown. Hitt hit Smith once more in the first half for a long completion that resulted in a touchdown.
