They also raise 500 to 600 rabbits, ducks, chickens and guineas, as well as some brood cows for the production of custom beef. The Muskrat Haven Store sells produce by the side of Route 211.
The farm employs numerous best management practices protecting local soil and water resources. Filter strips have been established along all waterways on the farm; no-till has been used in production of the corn crop, and good management has resulted in virtually no soil erosion even during the very wet weather the region has experienced over the last year.
The Calls established 32 acres of forested stream buffer on land in Culpeper County through the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, protecting stream banks and water quality.
