At the end of AIT. the National Guardsmen returned to their home units to begin their six-year commitments.
The Warrenton unit — Co. C, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry — had several men from Rappahannock serving then, including Roger Cordani and the Atkins brothers, Levi and Jeremiah, all of the Amisville area.
Frank Cox, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Bridges of Washington, was also in the unit.
I am sure that most of the draftees and Regular Army soldiers I trained with were sent to Vietnam as replacement ground troops.
