A school study committee has made five recommendations to the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors on wavs to increase public school funding.
County Administrator John McCarthy presented the final report of the Alternative School Funding Study Committee to the supervisors at their Nov. 3 meeting with the recommendations.
Charged by the supervisors with exploring avenues for increased public school funding, the committee’s members include Martin Woodard, Cliff Miller, Bill Dietel, School Superintendent Robert Chappell, Headwaters/ Rappahannock County Public Schools Graritwriter Amy Silver and McCarthy.
The report • said that "although we believe there is no single action the Board of Supervisors can take that will dramatically affect real estate taxes in Rappahannock County, we are making five recommendations, which taken together will help provide substantial support for public schools without a commensurate increase in taxes."
