Washington’s quick response fire vehicle weighs eight tons and the Washington Fire Department is checking to see if the regular fire vehicles could possibly cross over the bridge using caution.

County Administrator John McCarthy said that both the Hunters Road bridge and the bridge at Fletchers Mill are included in the six-year plan for the Board of Supervisors. However, the bridge on North Poes will have to be managed and restored through maintenance money, not through the six-year plan funds.

New business

In new business, the supervisors voted unanimously to amend the Fiscal Year 2005 budget by adding funds to the Planning Commission in the amount of $10,400 to pay for the printing of the Comprehensive Plan. This cost is expected to be recouped by sales of copies of the plan.

The board also approved adding funds to budgets for Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Commonwealth’s Attorney to effect salary increases for deputies totaling $29,713.

The -supervisors voted unanimously to reappoint Cherri Woodard, Marie Davis and Louise van Dort’s terms on the Library Board. Also reappointed unanimously was Judith Tole’s term on the Social Service Board and Alvin Henry’s term on the Planning Commission.
