used for several county bridges in its six-year road plan which was approved unanimously at its Dec. 6 meeting. Of the 71 bridges in Rappahannock County, 25 have been posted for tonage. Six of the 71 bridges have been repaired within the last 15 months.
According to Garrett Moore, VDOT resident engineer in Warrenton, bridges posted for tonage are not the only ones of concern. Other bridges will ciegrade or be washed out within the next few years and are of concern to VDOT.
Meanwhile, the Washington fire department quickly evaluated an alternate route to get to the homes in the Grand View Road area, traveling Rock Mills Road to Hunters Road which is a narrow dirt road on that portion of the road and will take approximately six minutes longer.
