Also of concern within the county is the Fletchers Mill Road bridge on Route 620. The maximum for this bridge was recently rated at three tons. This eliminates usage for all emergency vehicles with Sperryville Fire and Rescue.
Delays responding to Fletchers Mill and Five Forks residents could be as much as 10 minutes for rescue personnel.
The average weight of a four-door sedan is slightly oyer one ton, while a SUV can weigh as much as 3,900 pounds. Therefore, most average vehicles are fine to travel across these bridges.
In the interest of time, Moore said the deck could be replaced quickly at Fletchers , Mill, but there is a sharp curve at the bridge that needs to be
flood plane. Construction of the Miller Silo tower would entail crossing a stream over a low-lying bridge.
