William ‘Doug’ Eastham

a.m., 56-year-old William “Doug” Eastham of Red Hill Farm in Amissville, had started his day on a 55- horse powered tractor. Eastham would have normally used a larger tractor with a baler on it but it had a flat tire. Instead he used a smaller tractor with a round bale spike on the back, which just carries a big roll of hay.

Eastham had carried the roll of hay to the field where he put if off and then stopped the tractor and got off to separate the hay.

For some reason the tractor started rolling down the hill.

Eastham thought he could run and try to stop the tractor. He managed to grab the seat of the tractor which broke, and
