Since resigning as the
Mayor of the Town of Washington, I have attempted to refrain from expressing my thoughts relative to town business. I believe that it is now someone else’s turn.
However, I have not stopped caring about this very special town and have been startled by some of the figures published in the Rappahannock News about the town’s proposed sewer system. Admittedly, the information published in the paper is somewhat limited, but it’s what I have to work with.
When I left the position of mayor, we were discussing a $1.7 million system; now we are talking a figure of $4 million. or more.
The system that was proposed behind Avon Hall was to have a maximum capacity of about 45,000 gallons a day. We talked about that for more than a year.
